What Is Global Dayton
Global Dayton is an initiative of
the Dayton Council on World Affairs that connects you to the international
face of Dayton, Ohio and the surrounding region.
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve as a central
point of access for information about Dayton’s global connections,
on areas ranging from the arts and academics, aviation heritage,
to international business and trade, sister city activities, local
immigration trends, the rich diversity of ethnic and other groups
in the community, translation services, tourism, upcoming events,
and more. Global Dayton is also intended to facilitate linkages
among the large number of international groups in the Dayton region.

City of Dayton Overview
The City of Dayton was founded in 1796 and incorporated
in 1805, and was named after Jonathan Dayton, a Captain in the Revolutionary
Army and a signer of the U.S. Constitution. Dayton suffered a severe
flood in 1913, an event that remains to this day the city’s
worst natural disaster, and which lives to this day in the city’s
